Teaser image posted on private owners’ area of Ferrari’s website, with a pointer to a date that coincides with the brand announcing its new five-year plan
Ferrari has released a teaser image for a potential new model debut on a private area of the brand’s website.
The image, which features a sketch of a mystery car covered by the strapline ‘Icona Ferrari’, has appeared on an area of Ferrari’s website which is only accessible by owners of its cars. The date it mentions – 17 September – is the same day as Ferrari’s Capital Markets Day, at which new CEO Louis Camilleri will reveal the car maker’s strategy for the next five years.
The file name of the image published on the website is entitled ‘Ferrari F176’, which could possibly be the internal codename for a new model. Rumours suggest that the car could be an exclusive, limited-run supercar based on the 812 Superfast, but Ferrari itself has yet to confirm this.
Ferrari’s five-year plan will be presented less than two months after former CEO Sergio Marchionne fell seriously ill following complications during surgery and later died.
Camilleri has gone on record to call Marchionne’s targets for 2019 and beyond ‘aspirational’, but is set to outline how the car maker will attempt to achieve them.
